Vijayawada: The city traffic police identified some bike racers, who rode bikes rashly creating panic on the Krishna Lanka highway recently. Traffic police swung into action on Thursday and began investigation about the alleged reports of bike racing in the city.

Two bike racing videos went viral on social media in Vijayawada city on Thursday. Some youth were indulged in bike racing and rode bikes very rashly, performing stunts and creating panic on Krishna Lanka highway.

Joint Commissioner of Police Kanti Rana Tata immediately instructed the traffic police to verify the videos and enquire about the incident. The police identified one video that was shot last year and another video shot recently. The bike racers belonged to a reputed company, which organises bike demos near a private club in Tadepalli mandal of Guntur district.

Hundreds of youth from Vijayawada, Guntur, Mangalagiri and other areas watch the stunts and demo performed by the expert bike riders and racers in Tadepalli mandal. To promote the bike sales, the company organises the demos once in three months.

A team of bike riders recently conducted a demo in Tadepalli mandal and went back to Hyderabad on the bikes. While riding the bike, the youth performed some dangerous stunts creating panic among commuters on Krishna Lanka highway.

Police during investigation, collected some details of racers and identified the names of three racers. Unaware of these things, after watching the two videos, many people in the city believed that bike racings were taking place on Krishna Lanka highway.

Joint Commissioner of Police Kanti Rana Tata has ruled out the possibility of bike racings in the city particularly on the National Highways. Referring to two videos which went viral on Thursday, Rana said one of the videos was very old shot one year ago and another was taken recently. He said the traffic police had identified the racers and would book cases on them as per law.
