Chittoor: Around 150 students pursuing MBBS course in the RVS Medical College here are reportedly feeling insecure as the Medical Council of India (MCI) did not allocate medical seats in 2017-18 and college management is awaiting for MCI approval for medical seats in 2018-19.

Two days ago, the first batch of medical students, who completed two-year study, had approached the higher officials of the NTR University of Health Sciences. The MCI sanctioned 150 medical seats for RVS Medical College for the academic year 2016-17, in which 24 seats were filled under the management quota.

Medical seats were not allocated in 2017-18 as the college failed to fulfil the stipulated terms and conditions. RVS Medical College has reportedly failed to construct the labs, academic blocks and hostel buildings.

Moreover, majority of teaching staff have joined the Apollo Medical College for better salaries. As a result, the students are feeling insecure about their future and prompted them to take their problem to the notice of officials of the NTR University of Health Sciences.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Friday, an official spokesperson of the RVS Medical College has exuded confidence of MCI allocating 150 medical seats for 2018-19. She assured of resolving shortage of staff and stated that hostel building for girl students was ready.

She alleged that first batch of medical students were misguided. However, a medical student said that college has no labs and lacks facilities and has shortage of teaching faculty.
