Woman stages protest after being cheated on marriage pretext

A young woman staged a protest on Saturday demanding justice and action against the accused who cheated her on the pretext of love and promised to marry her. The woman, Vijaya took the support of Mala Mahanadu and staged a relay hunger strike in front of the Sub-Collectorate office in Desireddypalli village of Mulakalacheruvu Mandal in Chittoor district.

Speaking in this regard, Vijaya said that she was pursued by Purushottam when she was pursuing Intermediate studies and revealed that she accepted his proposal assuming his love to be genuine.

Later, she stated that Purushottam took her to Tirupati to get married, however, with the parents filing a complaint in the police station. The marriage attempt failed as the police pointed out that they were minors. The couple then completed their studies in Madanapalle until November 2017.

However, with the girl belonging to a lower caste, Purushottam's family stood against him marrying her. Vijaya revealed that the family are forcing him to get married to some other woman which is the reason she has approached the Mala Mahanadu to seek justice.
