Child marriages spoil girls’ development
Everyone in society should bring awareness on the adverse effects of the child marriages in the people and explain them that the child marriages destroys the physical and mental development of the girl child, said BV Sagar, HELP Girl Advocacy Alliance programme officer and paralegal volunteer.

Speaking at the workers meeting organised by the AITUC in Ongole on Sunday, Sagar said that the elders in the families were ruining the beautiful future of girls by forcing them to get married at very young age.
He said that though the government was introducing many welfare schemes for the girl child from time to time, the ignorance by some elders was forcing the girls to stop education and get married.
Sagar explained that 1098 Childline is working for the children below 18 years of age and asked the workers to inform them if they come across any child marriage, child trafficking, begging, orphaned, HIV affected and street children to them.
He also informed the workers that the District Legal Services Authority is always to ready to provide free legal help to the poor, SC and ST families. He asked them to contact the DLSA if they require any help.
