Vijayawada: One can get world’s recognition in the field of sports with hard work, said Arjuna awardee and badminton coach Jwala Gutta.

The Rotary Club Midtown Vijayawada presented Vocational Excellency Award 2017-18 to Jwala Gutta.

Speaking on the occasion, Jwala recalled her physical training classes and said that the present generation has to be educated on ethics.

She found fault with the government for the increasing crime rate. She said that the government was encouraging sports and the parents should encourage their children in sports rather than compelling them to become engineers and doctors.

She said that encouragement in sports should be given from the childhood.

Corporate Affairs and Infrastructure Cyient Ltd president B Ashok Reddy said with team work everything was possible.

Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) chairman P Ankamma Chowdary said that the government had provided about Rs 300 crore for developing sports in the state.

She appreciated Jwala for her dedication towards sports.

Awards were presented to Jwala Gutta and Ashok Reddy on the occasion by the Rotarians.
