Visakhapatnam: A leopard spotted in CCTV camera near Singapore Plaza at Rushikonda area in the city on June 5 night. However, it was noticed on Saturday, when the police who checked the CCTV camera footage to trace some offenders in the locality. According to police, camera recorded the movement of a leopard at the Singapore Plaza near Rushikonda.

While the wild animal slowly passing through the area, the camera captured its movement. The police informed about the leopard movement at the area to the forest officials. The police also cautioned the locals to be careful while moving during the night.

In the recent times, there is information about the leopards. In fact, there were a number of leopards on Simhachalam, Sitakonda Hills and Kambalakonda reserve forest. However, during the past two years, no one traced about the leopard movement.

Meanwhile, the forest officials observed a high increase of sambar and spotted deer population in the vicinity of the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, Kambalakonda reserve forest. Everyday a group of sambars are coming on the roads and also roaming around the areas of Visakha Valley School.

The forest officials said that in the absence of the leopards, the sambar population was increasing in and around the hillocks.

However, with the latest leopard movement, the forest officials are also decided to check the wild animal movements. “Recently, some of the tourists informed the VUDA that they observed leopard on the Kailasagiri Hills.

With the information, the entry on the Kailasagiri was stopped for three days and checked to trace the wild animal, but in vain. However, with the latest information, we will check to trace the leopard population,” one of the forest department officials told The Hans India.
