She strove for constructing a model police station building here with an out lay of Rs.1.25 crore to which Chittoor One police station was shifted three weeks ago.

Home Minister Chinnarajappa inaugurated the new Chittoor One Town model police station building and he gave his consent to demolish the old building as per the request of Chittoor MLA .

Speaking to The Hans India here on Sunday, Chittoor MLA D A Satya Prabha said that Chittoor Municipal Corporation would take up the work to demolish the old police station building at the earliest as per the master plan for developing the city.“ We have proposed to construct Statue Island near Gandhi statue.

Chittoor One Town polices station old building stood as serious setback for constructing the statue island. After facilitating a new building for Chittoor One Town police station, we have proposed to demolish the old one” she stated. She reminded that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu decided to develop Chittoor city as role model on par with Tirupati .

The Chittoor Municipal Council has already gave its nod to demolish the old police station building. The proposed project of constructing Statue Island would start soon, she added. As Home Minister has given green signal for demolishing the old building, Chittoor SP S.V. Rajasekhar gave his consent for handing over the old police station building to CMC, according to official information.
