Mega plantation drive in the offing
The district administration has fixed a mega-target for plantation drive in the rainy season under the Vanam-Manam programme. Top priority is being given to increase the green cover in the rural areas, this time the administration has directed the mandal-level administration to take up massive plantation drive.

Top priority is being given to increase the green cover in the rural areas, this time the administration has directed the mandal-level administration to take up massive plantation drive. In 11 revenue mandals in the ITDA and Paderu agency, the forest department has decided to plant shaded saplings covering 10,000 hectares.
The forest department also decided exclusive plantation programme covering 125 hectares in the forest areas in the vicinity of Narsipatnam.
Meanwhile, as a part of ‘Prakruthi Pilustondi’ (a call from nature), the district administration has decided to supply five lakh saplings to the schools and public places.
Besides, Collector Pravin Kumar directed to take up plantation programme at each mandal covering minimum 34 km at all the mandals in the district. As a part of the territorial forestry, the Collector directed the officials to take up plantation programme on the hillocks spread in the urban
areas.
