According to S Narasimha Murthy, the general manager, Battula Vengamma, aged 63 years from Addanki area in Prakasam district came to KIMS Ongole with complaints of chest pain and lassitude. The doctors diagnosed with ECG, LBBB, Echo and found that she was suffering from the heart-related issue, severe LV dysfunction and her heart was not able to pump more than 30 percent.

They informed her relatives about the need of a cardiac surgery with CRT-P. The doctors estimated that the cost of the surgery was around Rs 6.5 lakh. But as the patient was from poor background, the Addanki MLA Gottipati Ravikumar helped them processing the CM Relief Fund for Rs 4.5 lakh and the hospital performed the surgery with it on humanitarian grounds.

T Giri Naidu, the executive director of the hospital said that the specialists team led by the interventional cardiologist G Obul Reddy, Dr K Sridhar Babu, Dr O Harish, Dr Sivasankar, Dr Sandeep and others performed the rare and critical surgery for the first time in the neighborhood at KIMS Ongole. He said that it took them 6 hours to complete the surgery.

Dr O Harish and Dr K Sridhar Babu, the cardiac surgeons in the hospital said that after considering the options, the cardiologists’ team decided to perform the cardiac surgery with CRT-P, which is said to be a complex surgery.

They announced that this type of surgery was not performed up to now in any hospital in Rayalaseema, Nellore, Prakasam and Guntur districts as it involves experienced and skilled medical practitioners and technical support team available at hand.

The doctors announced that the KIMS Ongole had performed more than 1,000 surgeries in just one year of establishment and thanked the public for their confidence in the hospital.

Narasimha Murthy announced that they would never turndown any patient, though the patient was poor, and see to utilize available opportunities like NTR Vaidyaseva, EHS and others to save the patient.
