Aqua culture in drinking water pond

The tank was leased out to a person for Rs 27,100 for a period of three years. However, the lease holder sub-leased the tank allegedly for Rs 2 lakh.
The tank in an extent of 1.5 acres was getting polluted because of the prawns and fish cultivation.
Besides setting up of pump sets for filling the tank with saline water, aerators were fixed to enable the prawns and fish grow.
Fish seed, feed, urea and other things are being dropped into the pond during night time to allow growth of algae, which helps fish and prawns grow.
It has been a practice in villages that water tanks will be leased to different communities and temples for maintenance.
The same lands would be sub-leased to others to get more funds. Such funds are used for the uplift of the community, providing amenities and social service activities.
However, in Talataditippa tank case, the tank was misused for commercial activities. As a result, the drinking water sources were getting affected.
When asked about clarification, Panchayat secretary JDV Prasad informed that he came to know about the misuse of the tank. He said he would inspect the tank and take necessary action.
If necessary, the lease would be cancelled, he added.
