Guntur: CPI state secretary K Ramakrishna demanded that the government give house sites, ration cards and lands for cultivation to all eligible people. Addressing a dharna organised by the CPI leaders at Tahsildar’s office in the city on Monday, he reminded Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu that he promised to construct 20 lakh houses for poor in the state and added that so far, he constructed two lakh houses only in the state.

He criticised Naidu for failing to keep up his election promises and said while poor families were suffering due to lack of houses, the government had acquired lands for allotting to corporate companies. He warned that they will continue their agitation till their demands were accepted.

He alleged that Janmabhoomi committees were resorting to irregularities in sanctioning pensions and other benefits to poor. He slammed Naidu for compromising on the state interests during NITI Aayog meeting with the Centre. He also came down heavily on Naidu for not giving a single acre of land to poor during his four years stint.

CPI district secretary J Ajay Kumar demanded house sites and regularisation of encroached lands by poor immediately. He also demanded pensions to eligible and urged the government to give possession certificates to those who got lands from the government.

Later the protesters submitted a memorandum to tahsildar Nagireddy seeking house sites, ration cards and pensions to eligible. Prajanatya mandali state president Gani, CPI leaders Kota Malyadri and Chinna were present.
