Vijayawada: Husband of a TV anchor Mattapalli Tejaswini arrested by Kankipadu police on Tuesday for allegedly abetting his wife to commit suicide. Tejaswini ended her life by hanging from the ceiling at her residence at MBMR Colony in Kankipadu on June 17 due to disputes with her husband.

The police during the course of investigation noticed that her husband Pavan had harassed her and registered a case under the section 498A and 306 and arrested him. He was produced in the court on Tuesday. Earlier, the police booked a case under section 174 of suspicious death and later changed the sections to 498A and 306 under dowry harassment and abetting the wife to commit suicide.

The case took a new turn after the police noticed a suicide note written by the victim Tejaswini at her residence. In the suicide note, she alleged her husband Pavan that he had ill-treated and harassed her and also had an affair with some other woman. The couple had a love marriage in 2014.

After the marriage, they went to Dubai and came back to Bhimavaram, where she worked as an anchor in a local TV channel for some time. In February 2018, they came to Kankipadu and been living there. She ended her life on June 17. Pavan is working in a private insurance company. The couple is blessed with a girl. The police said she was in depression for some months and finally ended her life.
