Vijayawada: Assembly Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad launched a book (play) ‘Padamatigali’ by Patibandla Anada Rao at a national conference on the play here on Wednesday.

The conference was organised by AP State Creativity and Culture Commission on the Cultural Centre premises.

Prasad said that the play mirrors the bad effects observed in the rural life in the aftermath of the globalisation and portrayed society.

AP Minimum Wages Commission chairman Dokka Manikya Varaprasad presented a paper at the seminar and said that ‘Padamatigali’ acts as a compass to the thoroughly distributed society under the impact of globalisation and liquid modernisation process.

AP State Culture Commission CEO Dr D Vizai Bhaskar briefed the gathering on the aim of the seminar and said that the play revolves around the farmers and gave a new direction to come out from the ill-effects of globalisation.

G Balaramayya, former commissioner of endowments department said that Padamatigali stands next to the classics of Medieval Andhra with its lucid and narrative style of the formers life.

Gummadi Gopalakrishna, chairman of AP Nataka Academy presided over the inaugural session and hailed the lyrical style and plotting of the play.

Ambati Murali Krishna, YS Krishneswara Rao, Biram Semdena Rao, Satish Chandar presented the papers.

Dr E Sivanagi Reddy, CEO, CCVA convened the national seminar.
