Hyderabad: The High Court at Hyderabad has issued notices to secretary, Union finance ministry, vice-chairman of NITI Aayog and chief secretary of Andhra Pradesh government and directed them to file counter affidavits in the PIL case filed by former minister and convenor of North Andhra Discussion Forum, Konathala Ramakrishna, challenging the action of the Union government in taking back Rs 350 crore amount sanctioned as Special Assistance for backward districts of North Andhra and Rayalseema region for the financial year 2017-18.

The division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice J Uma Devi gave this direction on Tuesday while hearing the PIL filed by Konathala Ramakrishna. The PIL sought a direction to the Union government to release the Rs 350 crore for the backward districts. It was pointed out that as per Section 46(2)(3) of the AP Reorganisation Act, the Union government has to provide special development package for the backward districts in Andhra Pradesh. The bench after issuing notices adjourned the case by two weeks.
