Visakhapatnam: The Waltair Division is taking measures to create awareness among the frontline staff and RPF personnel dealing with women passengers and their security. After the launch of Subhadra Vahini team, exclusively for the safeguard of women passengers in trains and at railway stations, a workshop on ‘Gender sensitisation’ was organised in the city on Tuesday. Over 300 railway employees, RPF personnel and officers took part in the workshop.

Speaking on the occasion, Divisional Railway Manager Mukul Saran Mathur said that education is a process through which society creates the kind of individuals, hence, it is imperative that school curriculum plays a vital role on inculcating values of equality, inclusivity and diversity, all of which are essential for building a healthy society and gender sensitisation. Sanctity at the workplace should be maintained for mutual respect of the employees. It is the responsibility of the front line staff to ensure safe journey of passengers.

Members, Andhra Pradesh State Women’s Commission, M Mani Kumari and K Srivani, Director Centre for Women Studies, Andhra University, S Sumitra, Joint Collector G Srijana, IG cum Principal Chief Security Commissioner (RPF) Atul Pathak, Senior Divisional Medical Officer of East Coast Railway Dr R Charumati shared their valuable thoughts after the workshop and interactive session was also conducted in which participants raised their queries regarding provisions and other practical issues. The workshop was organised by Senior Divisional Security Commissioner of Waltair Division Jitendra Srinivastava.
