Srikakulam: A separate Grievance Cell would be set up for BCs at district-level, announced Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly (APLA) Committee on BC Welfare Chairman G Tippe Swamy.

The committee toured Srikakulam district on Tuesday and reviewed BC welfare schemes implementation with officials. Speaking on the occasion, the committee received representations from the BC Unions across the district regarding bank loans, schemes implementation and rule of reservations.

Committee Chairman Tippe Swamy said that basing on feedback Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed the officials to set up the separate Grievance Cell for BCs and conduct one day hearing in a month at the district- level to clear all issues related to BCs.

The Chief Minister is planning that the Grievance Cell would be conducted separately for BCs at the Assembly segment level soon, Tippe Swamy said.

The state government has spent Rs 40,000 crore for BCs welfare in the state in a span of four years, which is a record amount in the country, which was allotted for BCs alone, the Committee Chairman pointed out.

The committee reviewed sanctioning of loans under BC welfare schemes and self-employment programmes. In all, 85 residential Guru Kulam Schools were set up for BC students across the state to provide education on par with corporate institutions, he reminded.

The committee reviewed the rule of reservation and its implementation in all departments at all levels. Committee members B Ashok, B Ramana Murthy, Raja Narasimhulu attended. Local MLA G Lakshmi Devi, additional joint collector P Rajani Kantha Rao, district BC welfare officer K Sridevi accompanied the committee during the tour.
