Vijayawada: The leaders of the Left parties opined that there is a need to establish alternative political platform to the ruling Telugu Desam and Opposition YSR Congress in the State.

They took part in a State-level seminar on political situation in the State here on Sunday. The leaders said that they would create new force before the next elections. CPM politburo member BV Raghavulu said that the Telugu Desam and YSR Congress supported the BJP without caring for the State interests. The BJP did not implement the assurances of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, he pointed out.

He reiterated that the Telugu Desam and YSR Congress failed to mount pressure on the BJP. He said that the Telugu Desam unnecessarily continued ties with the BJP for four years and still the YSR Congress was maintaining relations with the saffron party. He asked the leaders of the two parties on who would take responsibility for the present situation.

He also said that the State government was cheating the Dalits with Dalita Tejam programme while the YSR Congress did not reveal its stand on it. CPI State secretary K Ramakrishna said that the people required an alternative political platform in the State.

"Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy attends the court every Friday at the same time he wants to occupy the Chief Minister’s position," he pointed out. He called upon the people's organisations to create an alternative political system to the public. He said the TDP government also failed to provide justice to people of different sections.
