Delaying pregnancies cause hurdles to conceive naturally

Vijayawada: The present generation has a fast paced life with consistently busy schedules forcing the women in delaying pregnancies until their 30s or older to cope with work, travel, and the financial needs, said Dr Swapna of Nova IVI Fertility Centre here on Thursday.
Addressing the media, Dr Swapna said that delaying pregnancies would cause difficulties for women to conceive naturally as women’s fertility decreases with age.
She said that in cases where women plan to delay pregnancy, a simple blood test AMH along with antral follicle would help them delay pregnancy.
She said that women of the same age can have different ovarian reserve, in general, the fertility potential of women begins to decline slowly from early 30s and rapidly in their late 30s and early 40s.
Unlike men who continue producing sperm throughout their lifetime, some known causes of infertility in women were chemotherapy, radiotherapy, ovarian surgery, chromosomal mosaicisms like Turner, etc.
Sometimes, even if a woman gets periods regularly there are chances of her poor ovarian reserve, she added.
