Kadapa: The indefinite fast launched by Rajya Sabha member CM Ramesh and MLC BTech Ravi demanding setting up of steel plant in Kadapa district, entered second day on Thursday. People from all over the district thronged to the venue and expressed their support to the stir.

Some leaders of farmers associations from Telangana districts also visited the fasting camp on Thursday and congratulated the duo for their agitation in the interest of unemployed youth. They hoped Central government would take positive decision to setup steel plant in Kadapa district.

Minister for Mines Sujaya Krishna Ranga Rao, Marketing Minister CAdi Narayana Reddy and Mydukuru TDP in-charge and TTD chairman PSudhakar Yaday visited the camp and expressed their solidarity to the fasting leaders.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Minister Sujaya Krishna Ranga Rao said that Chief Minister NChandrababu Naidu had written letters to the Centre seeking development of infrastructure and setting up of steel plant in the state.

But the Central government wilfully filed the affidavit in the Supreme with false report against setting up of the steel plant in AP, the minister said. The state government is committed to set up steel plant in the district, he says.

Rao denied the Centre’s allegations that state government had failed to provide details about the availability of resources to start a steel plant. ``The AP Mining Corporation had made more than 20 representations to the Centre with all documentary proofs related to the availability ofinfrastructure facilities like land, water, power grid, rail connectivity and mines for setting up of steel plant.

But the Centre had dragged the issue for four years,’’ he said. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday written letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take necessary steps for setting up of steel plant by filing revised affidavit in Supreme Court, he added.

Finding fault with the YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan Reddy for his baseless allegations, Marketing Minister C AdinarayanaReddy said that it is unfortunate that being a native of Kadapa district, Jaganmohan Reddy is least bothered about the steel plant, instead he colluded with Central government for his political benefits. He said agitation would be intensified till the Central government agrees to setup steel plant in the district.

Former MLC Satish Reddy recalled that Chandrababu Naidu was responsible for comprehensive development of the regionin all fronts including bringing Krishna water to the district. He questioned if Jaganmohan is really committed for establishment of steel plant?. Several party leaders were present at the fasting venue.
