Amaravati: Yoga will help lead a peaceful and healthy life, said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on the occasion of International Yoga Day, at his residence at Undavalli in Guntur on Thursday.

Naidu said, “Today is Yoga Day, let us focus on improving our physical and mental well-being by making use of the benefits of Yoga”. Yoga is not confined to any particular religion or country. Everyone can benefit from it, he added. The Chief Minister advised people to strive to make Yoga part of lifestyle.

Trikona Asana, Badrasana or Badrakonasana, Vajrasana, Sasank Asana, Dandasana, Vakrasana, Makarasana, Pavana Muktasana, Sevasana, Kapalabhati Asana, Pranayama Asana, Seethali Pranayama Asana, Bramari Pranayama and other Asanas were performed on the occasion.

Later, Naidu along with the participants took the pledge for practising Yoga daily. Dr Priyadarsi delivered Santi Mantra to mark the conclusion of the programme.

The Chief Minister said that life without peace will not have a meaning. Yoga will help to provide mental peace. He said that family relationships could be strengthened through the Yoga.

“Today, we are able to give Yoga to world, but we are not utilising the advantage of it. Yoga and meditation will help in maintaining mental balance,’’ he said. Doctors could give only treatment, but they could not make us happy. For that, we need to practise Yoga and Meditation, he added.

He said Yoga was our hereditary property and we should make it useful to lead a happy life. This would help in reaching our targets and goals, he said. Lead life with ethics and values, he urged the people on the occasion.

District collector Kona Sasidhar, MP Galla Jaya Dev, ministers Prathipati Pulla Rao and Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao and others participated in the programme. Ministers also participated in the Yoga Day celebrations in their respective districts. The Chief Minister released Ayush Journal, after performing different postures of Yoga.
