Srikakulam: Utilisation of Special Development Fund (SDF) for the development of Assembly constituency is not done properly in Srikakulam district.

Earlier, it was Assembly Constituency Development Programme (ACDP), but now it has been changed into Special Development Fund in 2014.

In ACDP, an amount was allocated to each constituency every year. But under SDF this system was changed and after receiving proposals from the MLAs, the government will cross check and release funds.

In a span of four financial years from 2015-16 to 2018-19, Narasannapeta TDP MLA B Ramanamurthy stood in top position by sending proposals for Rs 7.82 crore funds in all four financial years.

He is the only MLA, who sent proposals every year for development works in his constituency.
While Rajam YSRCP MLA K Jogulu did not sent proposals even for a single work in four financial years.

When this newspaper asked him about not sending proposals, he replied that TDP government is not sanctioning funds.

“I appealed to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to allot funds for various development works, but he told me that government will sanction funds on a priority basis”, MLA K Jogulu explained to The Hans India.

Unlike K Jogulu, another MLA from the same party of Palakonda V Kalavathi sent proposals for Rs 4 crore in two financial years. She also did not sent proposals for works in two years.

Pathapatnam MLA K Venkataramana, who elected on YSRCP ticket and switched over his loyalties to TDP, later utilised Rs 6 crore funds for three years.

The TDP MLAs from Srikakulam, Itchapuram and Palasa also sent their proposals for only two years as Rs 5 crore and Rs 4crore each respectively.

TDP State President and Minister for Energy Kimidi Kala Venkata Rao, who is representing from Etcherla constituency, also sent proposals for two years as Rs 6 crore.

Minister for Transport K Atchannaidu, who is representing from Tekkali constituency, forwarded Rs 6 crore proposals for three years.

Furthermore, now the government is allocating funds on a priority basis for all the projects irrespective of MLAs’ proposals, TDP MLA GSS Sivaji said.
