Vijayawada: Gannavaram police registered a case against Telugu Yuvata leader Jitendra Ramakrishna on the charges of harassing and beating his wife Harini Kumari, who is the sarpanch of Telaprolu village in Gannavaram mandal.

Earlier, Harini Kumari alleged that her husband has been harassing her physically and mentally, asked for police protection. Harini posted her photos and her husband photos on social media, which went viral in Krishna district.

Harini alleged that the Gannavaram police have not responded though she went to lodge a complaint against her husband, who is a Telugu Yuvata leader. In the social media postings, she alleged the police did not respond as her husband is a TDP leader.

Finally, on Monday the police registered a case under the Sections of 498 A and 323 of IPC for harassment and physical injury. The couple got married in 2008. However, Harini alleged, Jitendra Ramakrishna has been neglecting her for the last few years. She visited the police station again on Monday and lodged a complaint with the police. Gannavaram police are investigating the case.
