BJP leaders spreading false propaganda: GUDA chief
Godavari Urban Development Authority (GUDA) Chairman Ganni Krishna has said that Polavaram Project was given national status in Andhra Pradesh State Bifurcation Act-2014 and there is no need to give credit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking to reporters at GUDA office here on Monday, he said the project is the lifeline of the state and the project is not the special boon given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Still, the Central government has to reimburse an amount of Rs 1,973 crore to the state government for the project.
The project cost was escalated to a tune of Rs 53,000 crore, because of an increase in compensation amount of land to the evacuees as per 2013 Land Acquisition Act, he added. ``BJP state president Kanna Lakshminarayana said that his party is not giving political colour to the project but the people know well who are playing dramas in this regard,’’ Ganni Krishna pointed out.
The statements of BJP leaders made at Polavaram Project site on Sunday are far away from the facts. BJP leader Daggubati Purandareswari’s statement that the Central government reimbursed entire amount to the state government is also wrong, GUDA chief said. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is putting his endeavour to complete the project by the year 2019.
