Amaravati: Minister Nara Lokesh will contest in the general elections in 2019. He said that he will contest from any Assembly constituency following the directions of the party high command.

During an interaction with mediapersons at the Secretariat on Tuesday, he said that he was interested to contest in the direct elections. Referring to the TDP Rajya Sabha member C M Ramesh and MLC B. Tech Ravi’s indefinite hunger strike, Lokesh criticised the indifferent attitude of the Central government towards Andhra Pradesh.

Lokesh said that the indefinite fast by the two party leaders reached the seventh day on Tuesday, but the Central government is yet to take any positive step towards establishing a Steel Plant in Kadapa district.

He further said that this was nothing but grave negligence of the Central government towards the genuine demand of Telugu people. At the same time, Lokesh also blamed the BJP leaders that they were trying to gain political mileage on establishment of the Steel Plant.

“Parliament member C M Ramesh has been agitating to achieve the Steel Plant as promised in the Parliament during the passing of AP Reorganisation Act. The MP’s fast entered the seventh day. But, there is no reaction from the Central government. It exposes the attitude of BJP towards Andhraites,” Lokesh said on his twitter account.

He further said that the TDP has been waging a genuine battle against the Centre. He said the State government need not provide any subsidies to the projects sanctioned by the Centre, but the TDP government came forward to extend full support to Kadapa steel plant.

Lokesh said that the allowance to the unemployed youth will be finalised in the next cabinet meeting. He warned that the government will take severe action if anybody spread wrong news on social media.
