​Bhimavaram: A parents meet and orientation programme was held to mark commencement of first year B Tech classes at DNR College of Engineering and Technology here on Monday.

Transco deputy executive engineer DNVVRL Rajesh participated in the programme as chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, Rajesh urged the students that they should focus on fast-changing societal and industrial needs apart from studying their regular courses. Though there were plenty of opportunities in electrical engineering, the students had been failing to avail the jobs for lack of exposure to latest technology, he lamented.

He promised to come forward and extend help to the students if the colleges organises a seminar on latest technology. The college governing body chairman G Venkata Narasimha Raju said that the college had everything which enhances the skills of students while studying in the college.

He appealed to the students to participates in seminars, internships, workshops and mini projects starting from first year itself. They should learn job skills while studying so that by the time they leave the college, they would get a job, he added.

Governing body secretary G Satyanarayana Raju, principal Dr U Ranga Raju, personality development expert Dr KV Subba Raju and others spoke.
