Woman attempts suicide
Alleging forcible acquisition of her 3.2-acre patta land, a woman attempted suicide by consuming pesticide in front of the Revenue Divisional Office (RDO) in Nandyal on Tuesday.
Kurnool: Alleging forcible acquisition of her 3.2-acre patta land, a woman attempted suicide by consuming pesticide in front of the Revenue Divisional Office (RDO) in Nandyal on Tuesday. The victim was identified as Venkata Lakshmi, a resident of Chapirevula village in Nandyal. She was immediately rushed to Nandyal government hospital where she is undergoing treatment.
She alleged Bhupal Reddy, former Sarpanch of Chapirevula village, has been trying to grab her land and threatening her of dire consequences if she didn’t vacate the land.
The victim accused the Nandyal Taluk police of not registering her complaint against Bhupal Reddy. Nandyal Taluka police station Sub Inspector M Ramesh Babu speaking to The Hans India said the victim had approached us as it is a civil case we advised her to approach the revenue officials. He further said that Venkata Lakshmi was allotted patta in 1970 but the same land was given for pond purpose in 2001.
