1 crore saplings to be planted under Vanam-Manam
District Collector Kona Sasidhar directed the officials to prepare plans to plant one crore saplings in the Vanam-Manam programme to be held soon.
Guntur: District Collector Kona Sasidhar directed the officials to prepare plans to plant one crore saplings in the Vanam-Manam programme to be held soon.
He addressed a meeting held in the Collectorate here on Wednesday.
Speaking on this occasion, he instructed the officials to plant 30 lakh saplings. He informed that ITC would plant another 70 lakh saplings.
He said that the aim of the government was to increase greenery coverage by 50 per cent by 2029. He urged the education department officials to motivate children to plant saplings.
Students of 6th to 9th class would plant two saplings and protect them for another three years, he said.
After completion of SSC, they would be given green pass certificates. He said that the certificates are useful.
