Riverfront area to get facelift
APCRDA principal secretary Ajay Jain, Amaravati Development Corporation managing director Lakshmi Parthasarathi, Vijayawada Municipal Commissioner J Nivas and other officials on Thursday inspected the riverfront area near Vijayawada Municipal Corporation to develop it as a gateway to the city.
Vijayawada: APCRDA principal secretary Ajay Jain, Amaravati Development Corporation managing director Lakshmi Parthasarathi, Vijayawada Municipal Commissioner J Nivas and other officials on Thursday inspected the riverfront area near Vijayawada Municipal Corporation to develop it as a gateway to the city.
The state government has decided to give facelift to the riverfront area. As part of it, a star hotel, convention centre and entertain zones will be constructed near VMC main office.
The officials inspected the Prakasam barrage, vegetable and flower market, electricity sub-station etc.
If the riverfront project goes ahead, vegetable and flower markets will be shifted to other location. The VMC may lose some part of its land in the main office.
Officials from AP Transco, APSRTC and other departments participated in the discussions conducted at the VMC main office on Thursday.
