National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) sanctioned an amount of Rs 274.4 crore under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) as loan assistance for the development of 108 roads across the state.

Amaravati: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) sanctioned an amount of Rs 274.4 crore under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) as loan assistance for the development of 108 roads across the state.

The projects involve laying of new BT roads in rural areas to improve connectivity, will significantly contribute towards social benefits like improved access to markets, health institutions and schools, said chief general manager of NABARD K Suresh Kumar while speaking to media here on Thursday.

The sanctioned road projects will create additional length of 463.13 km of BT roads, he said and added the projects, on completion, would connect 529 villages benefitting 18 lakh people. They will also provide the farmers with improved connectivity to 224 market yards, he pointed out.

“NABARD is in the process of sanctioning more road projects in current year for better rural connectivity,” he said and added the NABARD has been extending financial support to the state government for various infrastructure projects.
