Amaravati: All set for the concluding event of TDP’s Dalita Tejam at Nellore on Saturday, where the leaders are going to create awareness on the welfare schemes being implemented by the state government for the SCs.

In addition to it, the party has prepared various subjects to be discussed including atrocities on Dalits in the country in the last four years, allocation of budget for the community through SC sub-plan by state government and spending of funds. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will attend the public meeting in Nellore at 3 pm.

The party chose to launch the campaign of Dalita Tejam on Republic Day 2018. While launching the campaign, party supremo Naidu gave a call to party leadership to take the message of Dr B R Ambedkar to the grassroot-level with a slogan “Ambedkar Asayam – Chandranna Acharana” (Ambedkar’s Vision -Chadranna’s Execution).

Naidu urged the cadre to visit SCs colonies to identify the problems that plagued them on a day-to-day basis. To find solutions for these issues, the government has tried to ensure the implementation of government welfare schemes to benefit each member of the community.

The campaign is mandated to establish the party’s motto of ‘pro-Dalit and pro-poor governance’ across the state. Over the last six months, the TDP leadership at the district and constituency-levels have worked to bring together the two dominant castes of communities including Malas and Madigas.

Ministers Kothapalli Samuel Jawahar and Nakka Ananda Babu, APSCFC Chairman Jupudi Prabhakar Rao and APSRTC Chairman Varla Ramaiah have been spearheading the campaign to integrate the communities.

During the campaign, TDP also held Madiga Maha Sabha at Vijayawada where leaders of Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti from Rayalaseema region swear their allegiance to the party in the presence of Naidu. Dalita Tejam and Dalita Chaitanya Rathams, the chariots of progress for Dalits from across the state started from villages on June 27 and will reach Nellore by Saturday.

The Dalita Chaitanya Rathams are named after the prominent SC leaders in the state including Kusuma Dharmanna, Gurram Jashuva, Damodaram Sanjivaiah, GMC Balayogi, SR Sankaran, Father Ferar and other leaders from across the state.

Some of the welfare programmes under taken by state government for SCs including: Rs 40,250 crore allocated for SCs in the last four years, Rs 1,411 crore spent for laying 5,746 kms of CC roads in SCs colonies, Rs 100 crore Ambedkar Smruthi Vanam (Ambedkar Memorial Park) is being created in the capital city Amaravati which will have a 125-feet statue of Dr B R Ambedkar, to empower youth, vehicles like Toyota Innovas and JCB vehicles were distributed, as part of Chandranna Pelli Kanuka Scheme, SC brides are being helped in their marriages with a support fund of Rs 40,000 for each bride, 12.45 lakh SC families were given a rebate of up to 75 units on the consumption on electricity, approximately 17.5 lakh students were benefitted under pre and post-matric scholarships, higher education financial aid of upto Rs 10 lakhs through Ambedkar Overseas Vidyanidhi and NTR Vidyonnati schemes. Scheduled Castes are helped to procure and own land through Land Buying Schemes for SCs.
