105 drunken drivers imprisoned in Prakasam district

Ongole: The Prakasam district police office Senior Superintendent of Police ordered strict vigil in the district as part of the controlling of drunken driving and further mishaps.

In the checks at various places from June 22 to 29, the DPO said that the police personnel booked cases under Section 185 (A) of MVI Act for violation of traffic rules and drunken driving on 279 persons and taken 153 persons into custody.

When submitted them before the court, the judge imposed jail term and fine for 105 drivers and fined the remaining. The police said that they collected Rs 2,09,400 as fine from the offenders and offered counselling to them.
