Ongole: The members of the Prakasam district unit of Human Rights Protection Committee staged a protest in front of the district Collectorate to demand the Central government establish Steel Plant at Kadapa, on Friday.

M Saran Kumar, district president of the Human Rights Protection Committee said that the farmers in the Rayalaseema were migrating to various States for livelihood for a long time.

He demanded that the government to fullfil the promise made in the State Reorganization Act by establishing the steel plant in the iron ore rich Kadapa district to strengthen the lives of locals as well as the State financial situation.

He said that the steel plant proposed in 10,670 acres of land would provide employment to nearly two lakh persons directly and indirectly in the district.

He asked all political parties in the State to work with the common agenda to bring steel plant to the State and establish it at Kadapa. The members submitted a memorandum to the Collector requesting him to forward the same to the concerned departments.
