Mummidivaram: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president YS Jaganmohan Reddy appealed to the people to extend support to him in the forthcoming elections to change the existing corrupt political system. “The people are vexed with the present political system because of rampant corruption,” he said.
1. Says AP can achieve development only through SCS
2. Reiterates that the YSRCP will provide free education to the poor
3. Appeals to people to vote for YSRCP to ensure a corruption-free govt
Addressing a huge gathering here on Saturday evening as part of his Praja Sankalpa Yatra (PSY), he said people were eagerly waiting for clean and corruption-free politics. It is the duty of the people to decide the correct leader for their better future as well as overall development of the State, the Opposition leader said.
Referring to the request by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to people to elect 25 TDP MPs in the next elections, Jagan questions what the TDP did during the last four years though it had maximum number of MPs from the State. In Konaseema area, the people were suffering due to lack of drinking water and farmers were not getting water for cultivation, but the State government failed to take any steps to resolve the problems, he said.
Though there are abundant oil and gas reserves, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu could not get any share for the State, he alleged. Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) failed to pay its installment of Rs 6,750 per month to each fisherman family during the last 11 months and the government is not taking action in this regard, he pointed out. In all, 17,000 families were affected due to GSPC gas pipeline, he added. Jagan said the Special Category Status (SCS) was the only remedy for the development of the State.
But surprisingly, Chandrababu Naidu opposed it for the last four years and suddenly now he took a U-turn to come out from the wrath of the people, he said. Jagan flayed the TDP government for not reimbursing the fees to the poor students studying engineering, medicine and other courses. If YSRCP comes to power, the government will bear the entire expenditure in this regard, he assured. Party leaders PS Bose, P Viswaroop, K Kannababu, P Satish Kumar and others were present.
