Nellore: Civic body has been extending its support for education for the weaker sections in the city. The Municipal Administration Department which succeeded in running Municipal Residential Junior College is now planning Women’s Junior College in city for the convenience of the girls who are studying in municipal, Zilla Parishad and Government schools.
As per directions of the Minister P Narayana, Municipal Administration Department had started a Residential Junior College (boys) in the VR College premises on the pilot model basis which is first of its kind in the state. Narayana institutions deployed their experienced staff members for managing the College initially for achieving good results.
Students have appeared for the first year exams this year. Faculty members were also from Narayana Institutions for monitoring day to day academic activity of the college. After setting the college, Municipal Administration Minister has been observing conditions there interacting with the students and faculty members on a regular basis.
Now, after witnessing good results in the first year exams, City Mayor proposed a separate Junior College for Women in the city to be run by the civic body. Civic body used VR College premises for the MRJC and the new Junior College for Women is being set up at PNM Municipal School premises on in Janda Street with an estimated cost of Rs. 2 crore.
Admissions in the college were also started from June 25. Similar to the Municipal Residential Junior College, Corporation would also provide material of Narayana Educational Institutions to the students of Junior College for Women.
The new Junior College would provide admissions in MPC and BiPC streams this year and add some more courses basing on response from the people. Further, Municipal Administration is also enhancing seats in Municipal Residential Junior College for students of the city.
