Eluru: West Godavari District Collector K Bhaskar warned the officials of dismissal from job, if anyone indulges in swindling funds in the name of issuing pensions.

He distributed sixth phase NTR Bharosa pensions to beneficiaries belonging to Denduluru constituency here on Monday.

The Collector informed that pensions were being issued by administrative staff as some pensioners’ iris and fingerprints do not match because of a technical glitch. In such cases, pensions are being paid to them after their authentication by a concerned staff member.

In this process, if any staff member issue pensions to ineligible persons to corner the funds, the government would take such crimes seriously and the corrupt staff would be dismissed, he warned.

The Collector suggested the officials to give pensions to all eligible persons as there was no dearth of funds. He directed them against issuing pensions to those not falling below the poverty line.

The Collector urged the beneficiaries of loans to repay them in the stipulated time. This way, the beneficiaries can help other eligible persons to get loans for self-employment purpose.

Government Whip Ch Prabhakar said so far, they had been issuing pensions to 2,072 aged, widows and physically challenged persons in Denduluru constituency.

If anyone is not covered, they could also apply to avail the pensions. There was no limit to the number of beneficiaries. The only criteria to get pension was to meet the eligibility conditions of the scheme, he added.

Mandal president Bakkayya, Denduluru AMC chairman Surendranath Chowdary, ZPTCs and others were present.
