Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Collector Pravin Kumar, MLC MVVS Murthi and MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu inaugurated the Anna Canteen at MVP Rythu Bazaar. Visakhapatnam.
MP K Haribabu and MLA P Vishnukumar Raju inaugurated the canteen near Regional Eye Hospital, MLA V Ganesh Kumar inaugurated the canteen at Turner’s Choultry. After inaugurating the canteens, the Minister, MLAs, MLCs and officials tasted the food.
The Anna Canteens, which were proposed at Baji Junction, Pendurthy, Vepagunta, Arilova, Marikavalasa, KGH, YSR Colony and Bheemili will be opened soon.
The canteens are being run by the Akshaya Patra Foundation. In fact, to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, Akshaya Patra and the state government are spending the money to run the canteens. Each canteen would serve breakfast, lunch to 700 people and dinner to 400 people.
Vizianagaram: Former Union Minister P Ashok Gajapathi Raju inaugurated Anna Canteen near RTC Complex here on Wednesday. The building was constructed at a cost of Rs.38 lakhs and daily around 550 people would be served food.
Akshaya Patra Foundation would serve breakfast, lunch and dinner here. Speaking on the occasion, P Ashok Gajapathi Raju said that the TDP government is according top priority for implementation of welfare schemes for the poor.
Some more canteens would be opened across the district, he said. Zilla Parishad Chairperson Dr S Swathi Rani, MLA M Geetha, Joint Collector M Venkataramana Reddy, Municipal Chairman P Ramakrishna were present.
