Officials to cover 2.39 lakh farmers under Rythu Bheema scheme in Mahabubnagar

Mahbubnagar: The Agriculture department of Mahabubnagar district is gearing up to enrol 2.39 lakh farmers under the State governments recently launched Rythu Bheema insurance scheme in the district. The main objective of this insurance scheme is to provide a financial aid of Rs. 5 lakh to the family of the farmer in the event of his death due to any unfortunate reason.

According to Y. Sucharitha, Agriculture officer of Mahabubnagar district, there are about 2.71 lakh farmers in the district, out of them the officials have identified 2.39 lakh farmers as eligible to be enrolled under the insurance scheme. The Rythu Bheema scheme launched by the State government aimed at providing a financial aid of Rs. 5 lakh to the families of the farmers in case of unfortunate demise of the farmer due to any reason.

The government had decided to cover all those farmers who have received Rythu Bhandu cheques and they must be in the age group of 18-59 years. “After verifying the date of births of all the farmers, we have identified about 2.39 lakh farmers are eligible to get enrolled under this scheme,” said an agriculture officer.

So far the agriculture officials have verified the details of 1.81 lakh farmers and of them already 1.5 lakh farmers have been enrolled under the Rythu Bheema scheme. The officials are yet to enrol remaining 89,000 farmer and they are speeding up the enrolment process and wants to complete the entire exercise by July 19.

Since the enrolment process under the Rythu Bheema scheme is going to be concluded in few days, the district officials have advised all farmers to furnish their details to the concerned agriculture officers in their respective mandals and ensure that they are enrolled before the deadline and avail the benefits of the scheme.
