Visakhapatnam: A two-day UGC sponsored international conference on ‘Dynamics of feminist writers’ jointly organised by St Joseph’s College for Women and Dakshin Bharateeya Rajbhasha Samsthan concluded here on Sunday.

The feminist writers and authors from various linguistic and literary backgrounds representing Telugu, Hindi, English and Sanskrit languages presented their research papers at the conference.

The speakers focused on the reasons behind the rising incidents of assault against women and put forth certain academic and political viewpoints. The contemporary study on the dynamics of feminism should be undertaken by universities and colleges, the speakers recommended.

Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University Prof G Nageswara Rao inaugurated the conference on Saturday. Prof James West, head of Department of English and Journalism of SRM University, Prof Milena Bratoeva, head of Indology, University of Sofia, Bulgaria, Dr Sr Shyji, Principal, Prof P.K.Jayalakshmi, Head of Department of Hindi, St Joseph’s College for Women, Dr Krishnababu, Chairman, Dakshin Bharateeya Rajbhasha Samsthan and others chaired various sessions. Later, the delegates paid rich tributes to Durgabhai Deshmukh on the occasion of her birth anniversary.
