Rajamahendravaram: The water level increasing in River Godavari as the inflows into the river from catchment area are rising. As many as 3.50 lakh cusecs of water were being discharged into the sea from Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage at Dowleswaram on Sunday.
All the 175 gates of Dowleswaram, Ryali, Maddur and Vijjeswaram arms were lifted to a height of one metre. At present, the water level at the barrage is 10 feet and at Bhadrachalam, it is 29feet. As many as 1,000 cusecs of wa ter each was released to Eastern and Western deltas, followed by 1,400 cusecs of water to Central delta.
District administration alerted the officials of various mandals in the downsteream of the barrage and asked them to be ready to shift the people to safer places if necessary.
