The police department would use drone cameras to step up vigilance on the movement of antisocial elements If any untoward incident takes place, drone would press cameras into service to get video evidence
Guntur: The police department would use drone cameras to step up vigilance on the movement of anti-social elements. If any untoward incident takes place, drone would press cameras into service to get video evidence.
Based on that video evidence, police would identify the accused and book the cases. Ahead of polls in 2019, the government has decided to sanction drone cameras to the police departments in all the districts in the state.
At present, Guntur urban police department was using drone cameras at the time of Assembly session, public meetings and VVIPs visit to the district. At all important centres in the urban areas, the department has already set up CCTV cameras.
According to sources in the police department, in the first phase, the department would give SPs, who would send the proposal for drones or request the Director General of Police for drones.
In a phased manner, the government would give drones to all districts to keep a vigil on anti-social elements and control traffic snarls. Guntur urban and rural to get drones cameras during the first phase.
Speaking to The Hans India, Guntur Urban Superintendent of Police C Vijaya Rao said: “During the first phase, Guntur urban and rural police districts would get drones cameras. Based on the request, the government would sanction the drone cameras to other districts”.
He said if drone cameras are having night vision facility, they are more useful to the department. They can use the drones during the night time so that could get videos and photos. It would be useful to check crime also, he added.
