Kadapa: Minister for civil supplies Prathipati Pulla Rao on Wednesday directed the officials to initiate steps for effective implementation of Food Security Act (FSA) for the benefit of poor and downtrodden.
Addressing regional conference of Kadapa, Chittoor, Anantapur, Kurnool joint collectors and civil supplies officials here, the minister said despite stringent laws related to FSA, corruption continued due to various reasons. The minister pointed out every citizen should feel responsible in proper implementation FSA as it was meant to prevent starvation deaths.
Responding to allegations that fair price shop (FPS) dealers misusing the system, the minister directed the joint collectors and district officials to conduct surprise raids on FPS and initiate stringent action on those responsible for such illegal activity. To prevent irregularities in PDS,the government has adopted highly sophisticated methods and the officials should monitor them properly, he said.
Marketing minister C Adinarayana Reddy directed the officials to ensure steps in preventing essential commodities being shifting to black market. He said the consumers should extend their total cooperation to government in drawing the essential commodities every month in time from FPS. Collector Ch Harikiran, joint collector Koteswara Rao, civil supplies department commissioner Rajasekhar and director Ravi Babu were present.
