Andhra Pradesh Girijan Sangham calls for Manyam bandh on July 25
Along with immediate steps to establish the Tribal University, the APGS is also demanding distribution of the title deeds of the lands to the tribal families in the bauxite reserve forest areas and immediate announcement of exclusive tribal DSC notification for the tribal youth
Visakhapatnam: Demanding that the NDA government introduce a revised bill to establish the Tribal University in the present Parliament session, Andhra Pradesh Girijan Sangham (APGS) called for ‘Manyam Bandh’ (Agency Bandh) on July 25. The APGS called all the Tribal Youth Associations and Student Federation of India (SFI) Committees to participate in the bandh and make it a success.
Along with immediate steps to establish the Tribal University, the APGS is also demanding distribution of the title deeds of the lands to the tribal families in the bauxite reserve forest areas and immediate announcement of exclusive tribal DSC notification for the tribal youth.
Dr M Babu Rao, President, APGS, pointed out the both the Central and State governments had failed to establish the Tribal University. Even after four years of the bifurcation of the state, both the governments are neglecting the Adivasis’ welfare.
Along with Tribal University, 12 universities have been announced in the AP Reorganisation Bill-2014, however, 11 universities have been established and functioning at temporary and rented buildings. However, both the NDA and TDP governments have not taken any measures to establish the Tribal University, he alleged.
The Central government announced at a Cabinet meeting in 2017 that classes of the Tribal University will start from 2018 academic year, but there is no progress in this regard, Babu Rao lamented. Meanwhile, the TDP assured to distribute land rights to the Adivasis during 2014 elections, however, the state government not taken any steps to distribute the title deeds to the tribals particularly in bauxite reserve forest areas.
The APGS demanding that the government conduct an exclusive DSC to the triabl youth. The general DSC is not being conducted and it is being postponed for various reasons. The APGS demanded that the government announce exclusive DSC notification for tribals.
