Atmakuru: The flood waters of River Krishna entered the sanctum-sanctorum of the Sangameshwara temple, on the banks of the confluence of seven rivers here, on Sunday. The temple priest, Pandit Telakapalli Raghurama Sarma, performed special puja to the deities – Goddess Lalita and Lord Sangameshwara.

The Krishna River in the Atmakuru forest division is in spate on account of discharge of over 2.30 lakh cusecs from Almatti dam inKarnataka. Several devotees gathered on the banks of the river to watch the spectacle of the river flooding the temple. According to estimates, it will take at least 12 hours for the whole temple to be submerged in river water.
