Vijayawada: With an ambition to regain the past glory and to be ahead of the race in the market of the aggressively competitive telecom sector, the BSNL is launching a number of new products in the market, according to A Purnachandra Rao, Chief General Manager (CGM) of AP Telecom Circle.

Addressing newsmen here on Monday, the CGM said that a new product with the brand name `Wings’ is being launched through which the customer could make voice call without a SIM. ``All they have to do is to download an app ‘Grandstream wave’ from Google play store, in any smart phone from any service provider,” he said.

The customer is given a 10-digit number and from this number, he could make unlimited calls to any other customer across the world, he added. Moreover, the customer could call any customer of any network unlike WhatsApp calls, he pointed out.

Likewise, in the landline segment, the BSNL is introducing high speed data of 20MBPS for monthly rent of Rs 99 with a limit of 1.5 GB per day. However, if the customer wants more data, he could go for 3 GB, 5 GB, or 10GB per day at variable rents for month, the CGM said.

The CGM said the BSNL has 68,51 lakh mobile connections in the AP Circle adding 2.6 lakh new connection this year. In tune with the new trend and to withstand the cut-throat competition, the GGSN (Gateway GPRS Service Node) has been commissioned for the purpose of increased speeds to data users in the state.
