Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, during a teleconference on Monday on Neeru Pragati, directed the officials to release water from Pothireddypadu reservoir on Tuesday.

He explained that due to heavy rains lashing for last one week almost all reservoirs in the state are getting sufficient inflows and the rain water will be utilised effectively. Chief Minister said that the Vamsadhara and Nagavali rivers are getting huge flood water and Srisailam Reservoir on the Krishna River will also get good inflows.

Meanwhile, nearly 419 TMC of water was let out into sea through Goadavari River till Sunday. Government is able help farmers to go for transplantation in Krishna Delta by diverting water from Godavari River to Krishna River through Pattiseema project at right time. Though several places in the state are receiving rains due to onset of Monsoon, Rayalaseema is not getting even average rainfall.

Most of the Rayalaseema comes under the rain shadow region of Western Ghats and hence it receives the least rainfall in Southern part of India and is identified as a drought prone area, he said. The Chief Minister directed officials to provide rain guns to the farmers in the Rayalaseema region, particularly where the surface water is not available.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said that on one hand the TDP MPs were fighting against the NDA government in the Parliament demanding justice to the State and on the other hand, the officials were striving for the development of the State. He wished both of them to continue their efforts with the same spirit which would help for the state.
