Vijayawada: Minister for Women and Child Welfare Paritala Sunita directed the officials not to stop supply of eggs for Aanganwadi centres. Reviewing the supply of eggs to Anganwadi centres at the Secretariat on Wednesday, she said that the department would pay bills to egg suppliers immediately.
On the occasion, the egg suppliers said that they could not supply eggs as the bills were not paid for three months. They also said that the truck strike was also a big challenge to them for supplying eggs to the centres.
Reacting to the answers given by egg suppliers, Minister Sunita said that the government would pay bills on time. She also asked the suppliers to supply quality eggs as per the norms prescribed by the state government.
The government has also plans to start a mobile app for avoiding lapses in eggs supply, she said. The bio-metric system has been introduced at Anganwadi centres to record the receiving of eggs, she said and added that the government would implement welfare schemes transparently.
She said that the government stops the bills whenever the lapses occur at grassroots level. The egg suppliers are also facing problems due to it, she explained.
She directed the officials to conduct inquiry before paying the bills, in case of illegal transactions are reported. She asked the officials to take steps not to stop serving eggs in Balamrutham Scheme though the eggs supply contract is ending with some neighbouring states. Several officials were also present along with the minister.
