Tirupati: District Collector PS Pradyumna advised students to be aware of various laws to protect their rights while participating in one-day workshop on ‘child-friendly legal services’ at SV Engineering College at Karakambadi here on Saturday.
The legal awareness workshop for students was organised as per the directions of the National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) to its district and mandal legal services authorities.
The Collector appreciated the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) for organising a free legal awareness workshop for protection of child rights. He directed the officials to conduct regular legal workshops for children.
Pradyumna has emphasised that there was no child labour in the district and school dropout ratio has declined significantly. He stated that workshop would benefit the parents and students in improving their legal knowledge on protection of child rights.
First Additional District Judge Sri Ramachandra Murthy has informed the parents to contact the DLSA if they need legal support for their wards.
Anantapur Range DIG J Prabhakara Rao advised the parents to encourage their children to acquire legal knowledge. Padma Shri awardee G Muniratnam, secretary of RASS, called up on the parents to utilise the services of the DLSA.
Tirupati Urban SP Abhishek Mohanty and Chittoor SP Rajasekhar Babu also spoke. Tirupati Bar President S Vasudeva Raju, Chittoor Bar President V Surendra Kumar, CID DIG Kalidas and other officials were present.
