Kadapa: Andhra Pradesh Akademi of Sciences, Amaravati and Yogi Vemana University (YVU), Kadapa will jointly organise Andhra Pradesh Science Congress (APSC-2018) at YVU campus from November 9 to 11.
Prof. Attipalli Ramachandra Reddy, Vice-Chancellor of Yogi Vemana University, released the brochure along with other senior officials in the campus. Speaking on the occasion, he said that Yogi Vemana University, Kadapa, is extremely happy to organise fourth AP Science Congress (APSC-2018) under the focal theme ‘Integrating Science and Society for Global Sustainability’.
He announced that the State organising committee was constituted with Prof M V Basaveswara Rao, Hon’ Secretary, AP Akademi of Sciences, Amaravati, as Chairman and Prof K Chandraiah, Registrar, YVU as Co-chairman, and Prof K Krishna Reddy and Prof M Ramakrishna Reddy as two organising secretaries of the APSC-2018.
In addition, National Advisory Committee has been formed with Prof. Attipalli Ramachandra Reddy, Vice-Chancellor, Yogi Vemana University, Kadapa, and Dr D Raghunadha Rao President, AP Akademi of Sciences, Amaravati, as two chief patrons and 72 eminent scientists as members.
The Vice-Chancellor also informed that the main aim of the APSC-2018 is interaction between the members of scientific community from various disciplines at national and international level, besides popularising science among teachers and students.
The scientific deliberations will be held in technical sessions, special theme sessions and S& T exhibitions with an exclusive session for school children. About 2,000 scientists, faculties, research scholars and young students are expected to participate in the APSC-2018. There will be lectures by renowned scientists.
Researchers from different universities, national laboratories and industry will participate. Scientific papers will be presented over a period of three days in four parallel sessions that will deal with physics, mathematics, IT, engineering, space, earth and atmospheric sciences, chemical, medical and pharmaceutical sciences. The Congress will also deal with nanotechnology, life and agricultural including biotechnology as theme sessions, he said.
The AP Science Congress will provide a platform to young scientists and researchers to enhance their exposure and to interact with erudite scientists thereby enriching their scientific zeal and research aptitude.
The plenary sessions, oral presentations and poster displays are meant to foster intellectual temperament, qualitative research, original thinking and creativity, he added. The Vice-Chancellor of YVU informed that the Children’s Science Congress will be conducted as a mega event.
During the three days, the organisers are planning to get around 500 students and 100 teachers from various schools in the State to participate in the Congress along with their experiments and exhibits.
