CM to check works of pending projects from August 1st week

Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that he would inspect the progress of pending works of irrigation projects from August first week. He asked the officials to submit a weekly report on progress of all the 56 priority irrigation projects in the State.
The Chief Minister conducted a meeting with the higher officials on the progress of Polavaram Project at the 69th virtual review meeting here on Monday. He directed the officials to complete pending works by mobilising equipment and to finalise drawings and design works immediately.
The officials informed that 56.9 per cent of total project works including 76.60 per cent earth works and 31.60 per cent of concrete works were completed so far. They said that 90 per cent of Polavaram right main canal and 62.41 per cent of left main canal works were completed.
With reference to radial gates, they said that the fabrication works were completed up to 61.67 per cent and jet grouting works of cofferdam were completed up to 93 per cent.
The officials informed the Chief Minister that 2.4 lakh cubic metres work was completed for the spill channel. They said that 30,000 cubic metres concrete works were completed for the spillway, spill channel and stilling basin.
The Chief Minister asked the officials to complete the land acquisition and R&R package works on priority basis to complete the project as per schedule.
Referring to progress of 56 priority projects, the Chief Minister said that nine projects were already inaugurated, six projects were ready for inauguration, works are in progress for 26 projects and works have been taken up recently for 15 projects.
The Chief Minister said that he is going to inspect the projects from the first week of August and warned of serious action if they fail to complete the works as per schedule.
He said Adivipalli reservoir, Sangam-Nellore barrage works should be completed as per schedule and there would be no extension of time for completion of works.
He said the Tarakarama Teertha Sagar works should be completed by March next year and the land acquisition should be speeded up. He asked the officials to speed up tender process of Vaikuntapuram Barrage in Guntur district and for the first phase of works for the linking of Godavari and Penna rivers.
Minister for Water Resources Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao, Principal Secretary for Water Resources Department Sashibushan Kumar, Engineer-in-Chief M Venkateswara Rao and others were present.
