Vijayawada: The State Disaster Response and Fire (SDRF) services department has been conducting live demos of rescue measures and awareness programmes in all 175 Assembly constituencies of State in case of fire accidents, safety measures to be taken for other mishaps and precautionary measures to prevent the accidents, said Director General K Satyanarayana.
He participated in a live demo of fire mishaps and rescue operations conducted by SDRF staff at Nirmala Convent in Vijayawada on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, the DG said the SDRF expanded its services in the State during the last few years.
He said the SDRF teams were taking part in the operations to rescue people from the debris when buildings collapse, rescuing the trapped victims in the vehicles in the road accidents, climbing the tall towers to help the people come down safely when they climb towers demanding the government to concede their demands and most importantly bringing out the children safely from borewells when they accidentally fall in them.
K Satyanarayana said their staff members were conducting live demos in all 175 Assembly constituencies in the State. He felt a live demo was better compared to the lessons explained by the teachers in classrooms.
He said that the SDRF teams were conducting demos in the interior rural areas to explain to the women about the LPG leakages and how to check them. The department was imparting training to private security guards, he added.
The SDRF staff conducted live demo on the rescue measures to be taken in case of fire accidents. They also explained to the school staff and children about the precautionary measures to be taken in case of disasters like fire accidents and others. Regional Fire officer J Srinivasulu, District Fire Officer D Niranjan Reddy and other officials, school staff and students participated in the demo.
